When you cosplay a character, you think of their most recognizable characteristics. What clothes do they wear? Do they carry an iconic item? What does their hair look like? What is their color scheme? By using some of these key features, it helps others recognize your costume, even if it isn’t exactly accurate. Even feel free to choose an inspired look or make a different version of a character. You could always add some little details that add a bit more flair to your look, like costume jewelry.

Here are some tried and theoretical outfit pairings.Have you ever wanted to cosplay a videogame character or a humanoid version of characters who might not originally be human. When I did a casual cult leader cosplay it only made sense to wear the matching earrings. If you’d prefer something more dainty, try the Crown Stud Earrings instead. Have a gamer friend that also plays? Plan a duo cosplay as the lamb and the goat! They can wear earrings that match their look too.
- A simple idea is to dress up as a fairy. Really as long as you have wings people will understand what you’re going for. Fairies are little magical creatures and are associated with nature. You can pair any of our Potion Earrings to add a magic element, or some Heartleaf Earrings for a more cottagecore feel. One of the outfits I wore to the Renaissance fair was a lily pad fairy and I wore Dragonfly Earrings to match the theme and add a different pop of color.
- When a character isn’t human but you make a more human version of it in art or cosplay you could call it a gijinka. This is a slang term in Japanese to anthropomorphize something, making it more human. A popular cosplay idea where this comes to play is for certain tiny sized monsters that you can capture. It’s a cute idea to wear Monster Ball Stud earrings as a simple addition that won't clash with your overall look. I had been dressing as ghost types for Halloween and there’s a certain Luring Spirit that matched one of my favorite ones. We have a large collection so if you look in your PC maybe you can sort through the boxes and find a pair to match your next cosplay too.
- Speaking of spooky season, another favorite look of mine is a certain pumpkin king. With a red jacket and a Santa hat, it easily transitions to a look I can wear in December as well. I wore the orange pumpkins in this Halloween Stud Pack as the Pumpkin King. But, you could easily wear a pair of earrings that show his Ghostly Canine Companion.
- The next idea comes from a show that I wanted to make earrings and cosplays for just about every character! It had a good pilot on Youtube and after a handful of years it became a great show with many catchy songs. I couldn’t resist cosplaying the Short King, but if I had more money and time I would cosplay just about everyone in the main cast. Lucky for me, there are earrings for most of the main cast. I wore Ducky Earrings, and I dug deep down into the dad joke vault to name them. You could easily go a bit more abstract and wear Tempting Apple Earrings.
- On the topic of American animation there is a wonderful series that reimagines fairytales and folklore. The main characters fight monsters literally attracted by negative emotions and they go to school to learn how to kick butt. The show is also known for very inventive weapons, like a scythe that's also a gun. I thought this look was the bees knees, though the character only wanted to be a regular girl with regular knees. I wore Red Rose Studs with my cosplay because they matched the color scheme and the character’s name. The studs are small and lightweight so you can always be combat ready.
Obviously you don’t need to dress up to wear any of these designs. You can wear them to casually represent the things you like or just because they look nice. That being said, if you do use our earrings in a cosplay we would love to see it, so make sure to show us on social media by tagging @spriteshollow.
